Four Be’s to Buzz Your Business Writing

The ability to clearly communicate ideas in writing is the sign of a polished professional. However, the challenge of getting to the point quickly while being polite and using correct grammar can feel a bit daunting. If you feel your business writing could use some buzz, this class is for you. We will review and practice four Be’s that will sharpen your writing skills: Be Concise; Be Courteous, Be Clear and Be Correct.

Be Concise

  • Use as few words as possible
  • Avoid unnecessary explanation
  • Avoid three common writing traps
  • Wordiness
  • Redundancies
  • Long words

Be Courteous

  • Avoid sexism
  • Eliminate gender-specific terms
  • Eliminate sexist pronounce references
  • Use positive words and phrases

Be Clear

  • Write in active voice
  • Include all necessary details and get them right

Be Correct

  • Use the right words
  • Use the correct punctuation
  • Avoid the four common grammatical errors
  • Changes in tense
  • Agreement of subject and verb
  • Agreement of pronouns and antecedents
